Vivo V5 Nougat 7.0 update release status

Vivo launched their latest smartphone, the Vivo V5, the successor to the V3, in November. It came with Android Marshmallow 6.0 on board and will most likely see an updated to go on Nougat.

The Vivo V5 features a 5.5inch 720p display, a MediaTek MT6750 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM, a 13MP rear camera and a 3000mAh battery. However, the most important feature of this phone has to be the selfie camera. Vivo has included a 20MP front camera and a front facing flash. This smartphone is definitely for the selfie lovers and has several selfie enhancement features as well.

Now, we haven’t heard anything official from Vivo, and usually the company is not very bothered about software updates. They have never updated any of their smartphones and everything still runs on what it was sold with. But, it is possible that at least their latest smartphones will get the Android Nougat 7.0 update, if they aren’t too lazy.

Vivo has used a custom version of Android Marshmallow called FunTouch OS 2.6, which does not come with an app drawer. The UI is mostly smooth and is very easy to use, according to customers and reviewers. An upgrade to Android Nougat should improve the performance and introduce several new features to the device.

Android 7.0 brings better notifications, improved battery life, new emojis, a multi-window mode, and tonnes of other useful features. Several devices from Sony, LG, HTC and other Chinese manufacturers have already been updated to Nougat.

we have no idea about when Vivo would release an Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Vivo V5. If it happens, it will probably happen in the first half of 2017.
