Moto X Play Nougat 7.0 update
The Moto X Play, released in July 2015, could very soon get the latest Android Nougat 7.0 update. The device has already been confirmed to get the update, but no release date is known.
Lenovo has already released the Android 7.0 update for the Motorola Moto G4 and the Motorola Moto Z. Now it looks like the Moto X Play could be the next device to get the update. The X Play is a good smartphone with features such as a 5.5 inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 21MP rear camera and a 3630mAh battery.
The Moto Z Droid and Z Droid Force smartphones in U.S were the first to receive the Nougat update, followed by the Moto G4 and G4 Plus. The updates for the G4 devices only started rolling out last week.
Expected in Q1 2017. An exact release date is not known, but it is possible that the Moto X Play may skip the Android 7.0 update and get the latest Android 7.1.1 update instead. The device recently appeared on GFXBench with Android 7.1.1 on board. This could mean that Motorola/Lenovo is testing the latest build on the smartphone.
Other manufacturers are doing this as well, such as Sony and Samsung. Google recently released the Android 7.1.1 update for the Pixel and Nexus devices.
The latest Android 7.1.1 update brings several new features apart from all the goodness already baked in to the Nougat 7.0 OS. User will get access to more emoji, new app shortcuts, improved Camera app with manual settings, an Image keyboard, more gestures, and a lot more.
